I cant ask just who your friends were
    while you habited/frequented the site-
you have no email address either.
I had no particular friends here that I consider any more noteworthy than the other, I just know there aren't near as many conversing here as there were years ago.

I'll try to update my profile but I gotta tell you, I rarely check or use email. Websites like this one are the extent of my social media too.
no twitter/fb/my space/instagram etc for me.

I don't care for other people's beliefs or their version of pc feces shoved up my rearend and never did learn to like the taste of it in my mouth either.

If that bothers anyone, here, have a strawberry:

Little by little political correctness eaked it's way into this website,
and I watched as it began,

when admin or a moderator at the time
announced that member were to start
    "behaving' themselves
(not the wording that was used)

as even tho USMC didn't sponsor the board,
we were a reflection of the Corps.

    What it amounted to was
that members were to no longer act like Marines
but were to conduct themselves here
    as some sanitized,
    cleaned up,
    poster boy facsimile of Marines
and that is not what has always set Marines apart from the other 3 branches.

*One of the few remaining ACTIVE members here,
I read just a couple days ago, said something like
"Not but about a handful of members still posting here..

    go ahead,

    filter some more".

    *The gist of which was,
    "Go ahead admin/mods,
keep driving people away and see how that works out".

1st Lady Elanore Roosevelt once stated:
The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!”

Those in charge here would do well to reflect on her words and stop trying to make Marines act like they are not Marines.

    Right now, the stats say:
    1 members and 1323 guests
    Most users online 4,336
    greybeard

    Members 117,931
    Active Members 120

120 active members out of 117931. that's way less than one 1%.

So, hows that 'sanitized' version of United States Marine working out?
    Those stats aren't lying.

Maybe...just maybe, it's time to let Marines just be Marines...

you're not in a room full of virgins here-
    some of us
    have been
    around.

    sometimes i push the edge.
hence the need to filter postings.

    Greybeard ,
Seems you're pretty sharp for a sergent -

you made no mistake on what i said.
nor the meaning of what i was meaning to convey
    by saying it.

part of why this site isn't "PC" , or as PC
as some would - want it - have it - and make it -

is because some of us do tend to push the limits.

    some pushing you may see-
    some you won't-

when you don't see me for two weeks-
as in the past - you'll know i had my nose
    put in the circle -
    not the first time
    not the last time-

    drag up an ammo box
sitchera$$ down and grab a sudz
outta the tub if there's any left-

    nobody ever stopped anybody from
    here leaving -
much less overly friendly to "recruite"
drive thru's from other places to gain
members or raise the head count...

    TWS - terminalLance - militarydotcom-
can still be walked to with everybodys fingers-
most here know who WALLY SEGAP is
who he served with and what he's done-
    we all miss "old Wally"

i still be looking to refine my ability
    skatin' fast
    when the ice
    gets
    thinnest......

Thing is.....this site has been through many things, unseen and unknown to the casual sightseer. There has been changes, both good and bad. A whole lot of what happened is only known to a certain few. Any Marine or otherwise is welcome here. You can post anything you like, feel anyway you want to, or let your wild side be known. Just remember, if you get your feelings hurt easily or you can't stand the heat....this is not the place to hang around.

I do recognize members names from years past and I have a pretty good idea of the average age of the membership.
My primary concern is if the board can't even keep the age group that has always been here and is now, then what's going to happen to this board in 5-10-12 years when people are well beyond the average lifespan?

If the board cannot or will not have the ability or overall desire to draw in the younger Marines, is LN just to die off and fade away?

Yes, I'm Vietnam Era aged as are a good number of the names I see here, but I hold the Marines from Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Gulf War, Afghanistan and all the rest of the more recent military endeavors and time frames in very high regard. More needs to be done to get them here and keep them interested in it.
This should be their online home when we're all gone.

Greybeard, those younger Marines you talk about, are all our Brothers. They have been here. However, even the younger Marines have changed, just like most things have. They seem to think that they know everything and we don't know shet. In fact, the azzwipe who caused all the mess we went through and damn near ruined the site, was one of those I'm talking about. It doesn't go over well when someone says he knows more about what you went through, than you do.

Hey, Montana. Nice to see you around. Especially nice to see you're above the ground too.

NUMBERS of members includes all the spammers, which makes the number of "members" misleading.

Sgt Lep moved from Maryland to South Carolina and is doing well. I wish he would return to LN, but I guess that is not to be. Other formerly active members, I'm told, have switched to Facebook.

"FACEBOOK" does reach a much larger audience, but it's just not a place I feel comfortable with.... LN is like sitting in an old, beat up easy chair wearing some old slippers, with your dog curled up in your lap and smoking your pipe....COMFORTABLE...
