0341 Mortarman

how would I get the chance to become a mortarman? I do have the option to switch my contract lucky since there are 4 spots for UH (infantry) open still. My Recruiter got my request mixed when I asked for mortars and lead me to CE with the boy toys. So after I fix that this week, when would I have the chance to choose my job and get a chance? would that be ITB or Boot?

For active duty (which UH is) you will get a wish list at SOI. You'll be guaranteed infantry, but no guarantees of being a tube stroker.

ITB. You'll get a taste of all the weapons systems (you may change your mind and like machine guns better) and then about half way through, get broken down into the MOS where the Marine Corps needs you most (not what you prefer, although it could work out that way).

Top, when I went through in 2008 the 0341s didn't touch mortars until after the split. The only thing everyone played with was grenades, 40mm, and M240s. Is that different now?
