WELREP SMMC Gene Overstreet
I talked with Mrs. “O” lastnight concerning SMMC Gene Overstreet. To catch everyone up, last week hefell from a tree in his yard, crushing his sternum, broke both knees, receivedsome internal injuries and had some blood clots. He was in surgery for 4hours yesterday for bi-lateral surgery on his knees. He has braces onboth knees and not able to bend them at all. They determined that he hadno bruising to his heart which was good news. He is currently in a fullbody brace to stabilize his spine and has a cone on his neck to keep frommoving.
He is in Brooke MedicalCenter in San Antonio, TX and will be there for some time.
The Commandant and SgtMajMarine Corps have both contacted him. However, Mrs. “O” request nocontact with him at this time. He is not able to speak on a phone due tothe cone and the nurses had to relay messages to him. He is also on a lotof medication as you can imagine.
Please feel free to pass on this information.
Mrs. “O” thanks everyone for their concern and prayers.

You gonna tell him? Knowing Gene as good as I do, I would not be surprised if he was packing under the sheets.
