This is Pete's Pond, mentioned above, in Botswana (the former Bechuanaland), in southern Africa. This is one of the most popular webcams of African wildlife, but the night camera view is odd looking, best to view it in the daytime. Keep in mind, again, that their time is at least SIX hours ahead of our time here in the USA.

Just for your information, it is about 7am Eastern Time right now, and that first webcam I cited, Tembe Elephant Park, is living up to its name right now. This is a good time of the morning to view an entire herd of elephants there, live, with sound and full screen. The time in that part of Africa is approximately 6 or 7 hours ahead of us.

Scroll to "next camera" until you find two---Kilaguni Lodge Cam and also Sataeo Camp Cam, they both refresh every minute or three minutes, so are not "live streaming" but do update themselves at one and three minute intervals.

Kilaguni Lodge Cam is in Tsavo, Kenya and the other is in Tsavo East National Park, Kenya. Two very well-known game reserves/national parks.

This is at the Nkorho Bush Lodge, looks like an upscale type facility in the huge Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, which shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, as mentioned, about 8 thousand square miles, still in South Africa, but bordering Mozambique. Bigger than Massachusetts. Kruger is said to be one of the very best destinations in Africa for viewing wildlife. Probably in the top two or three as far as locations go.

This camera, like most, has sound and is "live streaming".

5 am their time but 11pm my time, there is a big lioness just lounging around the edge of the waterhole waiting for something to come down for a drink. Very interesting, because although lions are around this area, Tembe Elephant Park, South Africa (see the very first post and the link therein) you don't see lions too often via this particular camera.

That is only twice a day, according to the schedule, and is live from the vehicle driven by a ranger/guide who narrates what he or she is seeing live. I saw one episode, very interesting, more so than a live streaming web camera at a waterhole.

This is one of the several under AfricaFreak.com above, but it is one of the very few with active hippo populations in it, like right now, one in the waterhole, was there last night too.

I looked this up, and Kwa Maritane is a Bush Lodge located in South Africa but up near the Zimbabwe (formerly Southern Rhodesia) border, so is not near the huge Kruger National Park (8,000 sq miles) where most of these webcams are located.

Again, not every webcam has hippos--this one does.

They are.

I had never seen a lion in the wild before, before a few nights ago, and never saw a wild hippo until last night. And as I mentioned, that hippo is still there in that waterhole as we speak.

I tried to find some webcams in India that might show tigers in their natural habitat, but couldn't find any.
