Are there any Logistics Marines that received the 0451 or 0471 MOS?

Hello, I am interested in the Logistics side of the Marine Corps, and i'm wondering if there's a chance I could get into either of these MOS's from picking a Logsitics contract.

It might sound like a stupid question considering those two MOS's fall under the 04XX field, but i've seen a separate contract for 0451 (Air Delivery Specialist) and 0471 (Personnel Retrieval) is a B-billet MOS as far as I know, or it might not even exist anymore. I'm wondering if you can still be put into Air Delivery specialist from a Logistics Contract because like I said, there is a completely separate contract for it.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone here was in the Logistics field and received one of these MOS's during their time.

    Thanks!

Welcome to the site. There are no stupid questions here. Well, there are, but yours is not one of them. Others who have some knowledge of what you asked will be along to help you out. Good luck.

You must volunteer for MOS 0471, Personnel Retrieval and Processing Specialist. Talk to a recruiter.
You must also volunteer for MOS 0451.

Haha, thank you. I appreciate it.

Perfect, that was the answer I was hoping to hear. Thank you very much! I appreciate it.

Can't imagine why someone would volunteer to stand on their feet all day every day in a hangar just to stuff parachutes and parachute cords into a backpack (while never making a mistake). Talk about a tedious/mundane/repetitive job. Unless, there's something more to it than I realize like a huge signing bonus. Bless your heart for wanting to do it because it is an extremely important job with Marine's lives riding on your job performance and attention to detail every day.

    Good luck.

Thank you! I will probably have to take a signing bonus to work under this MOS. That doesn't sound too fun, I agree.

Just realize. Once you sign that contract and take that signing bonus, there's no backing out. Won't matter how bored you get with doing the same thing over-and-over every day. Even with a bonus, it's not something I would want to do for the next 4-6 years. Don't know how important transitioning to a civilian job after you get out is, but there is no demand for civilian parachute riggers I'm aware of.

Very important advice. I'm honestly really not thinking this through. If it's something I can volunteer to do towards the end of my enlistment, I think I will because it does sound enjoyable for a while, but I will just stick to the Logistics field as i've been told that Logistics has a pretty great transfer in skills to the civilian side of things. I appreciate the insight.

Thanks for posting this! It sounds like such a demanding set of requirements. I'm not even sure if it's worth it for what you get out of it. Jump Wings? Cool, but now that I think of it, it might only be something I will volunteer for towards the end of my enlistment. The job doesn't sound too fun.

Also, that's odd that you need to have good swimming skills. Never would've thought about that being a requirement.

Go to youtube.com and search for parachute riggers. You'll see how tedious the job is.

Also search "USMC logistics". Looks like a no-brainer to me.
