Security Forces

I am the father of a poolee who is very soon going to be a recruit. I thank you for your service. My son has received a UV Security Forces Contract and he has read, and so have I, much of the information available about the different options presented. It really does look like an exciting field.

At what point are they assigned to the different areas (RTT, FAST, etc.)? Does that happen sometime during the SOI training? Is there any particular criteria they are looking for if he has a preference?
