OCS Reserve Contract. Would like to switch to Active.
Hi everyone. So I'm supposed to leave for OCS in January on a Reserve contract but after working a few different jobs I decided I want to just be a Marine and not worry about a civilian job right now.
I'm wondering, if there are some Marine Officer Reservists out there, what is the story about trying to get out of the reserves as an officer to active duty?
I talked to my OSO and he said there is nothing I can do until I get to TBS. He said one guy that was 13th out of 300 at TBS was able to switch over to active duty. Is this my only shot at getting out of being stuck in the reserves? I know there are deployment opportunities I can volunteer for but I don't want to have to deploy all the time in order to avoid a civilian job. Can someone please give me some info on switching over or am I stuck with what I signed for?
