Today, TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) announces the "2004 TRICARE Best of the Web" award winners. This second annual competition recognizes the best of TRICARE on the Web throughout the Military Health System (MHS). The Web sites are judged on a combination of basic elements and unique features that help beneficiaries easily find important information, schedule appointments and contact the hospital. The 2004 TRICARE Best of the Web winners are:
Most Innovative: Naval Hospital, Sigonella, Italy, http://www.sig.med.navy.mil.
Best Design/Most Improved: Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune, N.C., http://lej-www.med.navy.mil.
Most Informative: Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colo., http://www.evans.amedd.army.mil/.
Most Customer-Focused: Moncrief Army Community Hospital, Fort Jackson, S.C., http://www.moncrief.amedd.army.mil.

"Effective Web sites are an important tool in our mission to provide the highest level of quality care. They improve our ability to provide world-class service," said Ms. Dian Lawhon, director, communications and customer service, TMA. "The 2004 winners enable beneficiaries to set up appointments and find answers to their questions quickly and easily." Each of the four winners will receive a 2004 TRICARE Best of the Web logo to feature on the site and a poster suitable for framing. A poster announcing the winners will also be showcased in the Hall of Heroes in TRICARE's Falls Church, VA, headquarters.

Nominations are still being accepted for the TRICARE Gold and Silver Stars through April 15, 2004. The star program rates sites on certain criteria and winners will receive a gold or silver star logo to put on their site. If you think your site deserves a star, or want to see a list of the criteria for judging, visit www.tricare.osd.mil/thebestof.

The call for 2005 nominations will begin in May 2004, giving participants additional time to prepare submissions. TRICARE will also be requesting volunteers to assist with the judging at this time.
