Question Redeeming Qualities of Technical Skills

    Hello,

My name is Eric Gerhardt. Aspiring Marine, 26 years old, Waivers required.

Currently meet Tier 2 recruiting standards educationally. GED with Honors. Registered Student at a local College (PELL Grant) pursuing 15 credit hours in order to meet Tier 1 educational standards. School starts in August.

Florida juvenile record, 14-16 yoa, NO thievery or moral turpitude. Battery, Weapons Charges, Misc. Related Charges. Clean Adult Record. Licensed Security Officer. Moral waiver required; which the Army flat out denied as I do not fit their moral qualifications.

Marine Corps recruiters looked at paperwork and gave a thumbs up with College though did not offer a written offer. Verbal only.

Owned business which dealt in ammunition, less lethal products and accessories last year. MOS 3051 (Supply) is the target.

Strong background with computers, obtaining industry respected certifications (DoD Accepted) concurrently with school. (CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+) Considering technological MOS however...

Obviously background will stymie security clearance applications which computers generally involve. (The Edward Snowden, Bradley Manning, etc. betrayals)

Is anyone aware of business experience and/or technical skills/credentials outweighing waiver necessity in terms of the best interests of the Marine Corps?

    Regards,

    Eric Gerhardt

Not going to happen. If the Army won't take you, we sure as hell won't (they take anybody with a pulse). Nice try though. Good luck with school.

No the Marine Corps doesn't care about your technical skills they will provide you with the skills they want you to have assuming they want to accept you.
