    Liberty for wedding?

Hi. My sister is currently in MOS school and she is a bridesmaid in my wedding. I was wondering how long it will take to find out whether she can/cannot take liberty on the weekend to attend a Saturday wedding in Massachusetts (she is in North Carolina). The wedding is 30 days away.

It's hard to say. The famous "It depends" comes into effect here.

It depends on when she graduates from MOS school, where she is transferred after school (if she graduates the schoolhouse before the wedding), any number of factors.

If she is still in MOS school during your wedding, I wouldn't count on her being able to get an out-of-bounds liberty pass to go that far from Camp Lejuene for a two-day weekend. If she is still in school, she will not likely get extended weekend liberty as she is there to learn her MOS, not take time off.

Your sister will have to research this issue as anything else is simply conjecture. The sooner she starts, the sooner you'll have an answer. Personally, I'd come up with a Plan B, just in case she can't attend.

    GOOD NEWS - BAD NEWS

a NORMAL weekend librety has a "RADIUS"
    of 250 miles.
    IF ANYTHING HAPPENS -
and they are found "OUT OF BOUNDS"
    they are subject to NonJudicialPunishment
    IE: OFFICE HOURS

You fail to mention if she will have graduated
her school before the date of the wedding ?

the WORK AROUND for the event ? She
may have to apply for a two day leave -
which may cause other problems .
    - us not knowing the full picture.

Thank you for responding. She graduates from MOS school a couple of weeks after the wedding. She would be able to fly out Friday night and fly back to base on Sunday. She told me she asked permission about a month ago but hasn't heard back.

** I broke it down to where i can understand it -

Lord knows -duplicated libretycards and somebody
signing muster sheets THEN the problem not making
it back before the clock runs out

    like you said
she better have a PLAN B

Have her ask her Chain of Command, its almost like what they are there for.

They may make her take leave if she has any they may tell her to go pound sand being she is in student status. None of us are in her chain so we cannot answer that question.

Just want to echo the "it depends."

My husband didn't get his leave approved for our wedding until 16 hours before our wedding, and he had to get from his duty station in CA to the wedding in MN.
