Problems at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery

I don’t usually get on a soapbox but this issue is different. Our Jefferson Barracks Veterans Cemetery will soon be full. The VA is trying to buy some land that is now a park from St. Louis County and some of the local environmental groups are opposing it and have filed a lawsuit to stop the sale. This is what I posted about it on the St. Louis Post Dispatch website and Facebook this morning:

"Those who oppose selling this land for the burial of men and women who fought and died for their freedoms are disgusting. Many of our family members are resting in Jefferson Barracks and my wife and I would like to join them when our time comes. The Sierra Clubs September newsletter contains a rant against the sale of the park land for the the cemetery from Caroline Pufalt, Conservation Chair for the Eastern Missouri Group in which she asks us to call their offices at 314-644-1011. My wife and I are both Sierra Club members and supporters or were until we received this newsletter. Why don't those of you who are veterans or support your your veterans give them a call and tell them that you support the honorable burial and respect for those who served this country and paid for their right to hug trees."

It’s really hard for me to express how incensed I am that these arrogant, elitists who run around acting like they’re saving the world from self-destruction would deny our veterans the right to be buried in a veterans cemetery with their brothers, sisters and family members. If any of you , my brothers , sisters, veterans family members and supporters have the time to make you voices heard in this matter I think all veterans and future veterans would appreciate it very much.

Thank you Rocky...I think every person who supports out veterans and those who will be veterans needs to see whats happening...Its like a poem that's been around for years but it's still true today; It's Tommy this and Tommy that and Tommy go away. But it's thank you Mr. Atkins when the bands begin to play
