Disbanded Units?

Marines!
Have both the 9th Marines and the 4th Marines been totally deactivated? I read with sorry that 3/4 was deactivated. But, is there still a portion of the 3rd Mar Div?

Currently each of the Regiment's three battalions are part of other Marine infantry regiments in the 1st Marine Division. The regiment in turn hosts battalions stationed in the US mainland and Hawaii for training in jungle warfare.
But if you look at the 3rd Div it looks like they are disbanding it a little at a time.

I served with the 3/26 in Nam. They were deactivated after WW2. Was reactivated for Nam. Although they were in the 5th Mar Div....they were under occupational control of the 3rd Div., then the 1st Div. I think they were deactivated after Nam. So, those units will more than likely be activated in time of war.

I heard they disbanded my old unit too. 1/9. Is there any truth to that. What would the world be like without the "Walking Dead"?
