    what are my chances

Hello my name is Justin. I am 23 years old and married. When i was 16 i was charged with possession of illegal narcotics with intent to diliver (class c felony) and was also charred with shoplifting and a m.i.p that same year. Since then i have been in zero trouble. I am happily married working two jobs to make ends meat recently i have decided that i want to join the marine core because i love my country and because of how much it would help me help my family.

I have spoken with recruiters which have told me that before i can be considered i must first complete 15 college credits and have 2 whole sleeves of tattoos removed from my elbows down on both arms. I am almost done with school now and about half way done with the extremely painful 3000 dollar tattoo laser removal.

My question is do you guys think that i have a chance? I do know i have a troubling juvenile past and that i am practically a waiver mill, but honestly i want to be a marine and i will do what ever it takes to even be cconsidered.

I also volunteer with a local boy scout troop is there anything else i can do to better my chances?

    Thank you for your time.

Legit or not? YOU be the judge.

oh its legit and i am telling the total truth. Also the felony drug charge was majawana under 30 grams. not sure if that helps bring any clarifclarification. I was a knuckle head and i regret my past. I also understand that my actions no matter how remorseful i am can and may effect my abilities to serve my country as a marine, but i will do everything within my little bit of power to better my cchances

So what has happened in the last seven(7) years that would qualify you to be a Marine; and more importantly, why do you want to be a Marine. I think that you'll have a difficult time enlisting. The Corps is very selective.

Here's a couple of things you can do immediately; capitalize the word Marine, and it is not a core; it is the Corps re; Marine Corps

There is no way your getting in with sleeves. I dont think any military branch will take you at this point in time. Sorry bro.

  6. #6
you have a felony 0 chance of getting in anywhere. Lautenberg is a b!tch. Sleeves 0 chance anywhere, thanks for playin, im surprised the recruiter kept talking after he heard felony.

the only ways youd be able to do anything get a pardon of your felony, and get your tattoos removed.

Less than zero chance. Should've saved the three grand and invested in a spelling course.

No OP ever asks himself, hey, why should the Corps take me with a felony? They always think they might be the exception to the rule and come in and all is wiped away. Truly truly truly amazing.

Chuck, with all the endless questions about lateral moves, changing MOSs etc, instead of figuring out what they want to do in the first place, these endless questions about how do I get out of this and into that......what about transferring into the Legion from the Corps? Any info on that?

(Not to sidetrack the thread too much,I know we're just fooling around about joining---- but the French Foreign Legion is interesting and the training is demanding. I read Simon Murray's book about it, as well as a couple of others, take a look on amazon.com, there are books about legionnaires. It seems to be as tough or tougher than USMC boot camp was in the 1950s and 60s)

A Marine I deployed with joined the FFL, I wish I could tell you how he is doing but no one ever heard from him after he left...I am sure he is either dead or out being a bad-a$$ somewhere and killing ISIS

But yes my original FFL comment was more of a joke, I highly doubt OP is gonna drop his family, go get a new identity, and disappear from the world just to join "a military"

You and Joe would make outstanding Sgt Majors of the FFL, maybe there's some kind of joint/concurrent program where you could do both LOL....
