    Retirement Pay

    Ladies and Gents,

How does retirement pay get calculated for a Marine who spends time on active duty and then switches to the reserves? I have been able to find information on retirement pay for those who spend 20+ in either active duty or reserve status, but not for a career Marine who does both.

    Any information would be helpful.

    unless the rules have changed
you would get credit for your active time and any time in the
reserve that you finished you would than be retired an give a certificate
how ever you would not receive retied pay until you reached age 65

for each year of your active duty time you earn 365 "points", plus the "points" you earn for drills, AT, MCI's, and "membership" (15 points per year)... your total number of points is what your retirement is based on, and you will start to receive retirement pay at age 60 (not 65) .... you will be credited with 1 year of service for every 365 points, and pay is based on rank and total years of service.....

Points in the Reserves are not as great as active----
You do get "bonus" points for the active time.

Get together with your Admin so you know the scoop.
