Organic Farming Is Going to Save You Money

You probably don't realize it—I sure didn't—but if you're an American, you're subsidizing monocultural farming practices by helping to pay farmer's insurance premiums on their crops. “All crop insurance is subsidized to some extent,” Schahczenski told me. “The average in the US is about 60 percent of the premium cost, but it varies in the coverage that you select... It's a significant public investment, subsidizing crop insurance.”

we need to stop all subsidizing, this country was built on you make it on your own all the government did was try to keep you safe (sometimes) if your farm made it great you took your extras to the store and sold it to them same with any bussiness you made it or your failed on your own

well, nuts, how did I miss out on this, no one subsidizes me,, course I only have about a 1/2 acre farm for my family and we raise our own beef, pork and chickens but still,,
that's why the only thing we buy at the store is Milk, and if I could figure a way to milk my cows with out having to be their all the time, I would do that as well..

I'm sitting on 2 acres of prime SW Florida land. As soon as they legalize pot here I'm going to start share-cropping, I'll make a ton so I won't need a subsidy.
