John Michael Montgomery - "Letters From Home"
Dear son, it is almost June
I hope this letter catches up to you
And finds you well
Its been dry but they’re calling for rain
And everythings the same ol’ same ol’
Johnsonville
You’re stubborn daddy ain’t said too much
But I’m sure you know he sends his love
And she goes on
In a Letter From Home
I hold it up and show my Buddies
like we ain’t scared and our boots ain’t muddy
and they all laugh
like there’s something funny bout’ the way I talk
When I say "Mama sends her best Y’all"
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
pick up my gun and get back to work
and it keeps me driving me on
waiting on
Letters from Home
My dearest love its almost dawn
I’ve been lying here all night long
wondering where you might be
I saw your Mama and I showed her the ring
Man on the television said something
so I couldn’t sleep
But I’ll be allright
I’m just missing you
this is me kissing you
XX’s and OO’s
In a Letter from Home
I hold it up and show my Buddies
like we ain’t scared and our boots ain’t muddy
and they all laugh
cause she calls me honey and they take it hard
cause I don’t read the good parts
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
pick up my gun and get back to work
and it keeps me driving me on
waiting on
Letters from Home
Dear son I know I ain’t written
sitting here tonight alone in the kitchen
it occurs to me
I might not have said but I’ll say it now
Son you make me proud
I hold it up and show my Buddies
like we ain’t scared and our boots ain’t muddy
but no one laughs
cause there ain’t nothing funny when a soldier cries
I just wipe me eyes
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
pick up my gun and get back to work
and it keeps me driving me on
waiting on
Letters from Home

Madonna and Britney Spears, you can shove,
Give me smoth Jazz or country, that what I love.
Hip Hop and Rap doesn't ring a bell,
sounds like music, stright out of hell.
Bluegrass is folk music to my ears,
Old love songs will bring on tears.
Chubby Checker could shake his ass'
Now there's a man that had real class.
The Cherry Poppin' Daddies, man alive,
Those dancing fools, how they could Jive.
Now you can listen to music that you adore,
Don't bring it to me, you'll be out the door.

A must song to listen to.

In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war,
but it wasn't.
It was different in many ways, as so were tose that did the fighting.
In World War II the average age of the combat soldier was 26...
In Vietnam he was 19.
In inininininin Vietnam he was 19.
(TV announcer's voice)
The shooting and fighting of the past two weeks continued today
25 miles west of Saigon
I really wasn't sure what was going on (Vet's Voice)

In Vietnam the combat soldier typicaly served a twelve month tour of duty but
was exposed to hostile fire almost everyday

Hundreds of Thousands of men who saw heavy combat in Vietnam were arrested
since discharge
Their arrest rate is almost twice that of non-veterans of the same age.
There are no accurate figures of how many of these men have been incarcerated.
But, a Veterans Administration study concludes that the greater of Vets
exposure to combat could more likely affect his chances of being arrested or
convicted.
This is one legacy of the Vietnam War

They won't forget what they've seen..

After World War II the Men came home together on troop ships, but the Vietnam
Vet often arrived home within 48 hours of jungle combat
Perhaps the most dramatic difference between World War II and VietNam was
coming home.. .none of them received a hero's welcome
None of them received a heroes welcome, none of them, none of them
Nenene Nenene None of them, none of them, none of them (etc...)
None of them received a hero's welcome
None of them received a hero's welcome
According to a Veteran's Administration study
Half of the Vietnam combat veterans suffered from what Psychiatrists call
Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder
Many vets complain of alienation, rage, or guilt
Some succumb to suicidal thoughts
Eight to Ten years after coming home almost eight-hundred-thousand men are
still fighting the VietNam War

When we came back it was different.. Everybody wants to know "How'd it
happenned to those guys over there
There's gotta be something wrong somewhere
We did what we had to do
There's gotta be something wrong somewhere
People wanted us to be ashamed of what it made us
Dad had no idea what he went to fight and he is now
All we want to do is come home
All we want to do is come home
What did we do it for
All we want to do is come home
Was it worth it?
What do you think?

Music wise Linkin Park is pretty decent, but as human beings their pretty great, some of you might know this but for those who dont im here to let you know that they give free concerts for people in the military or for people who have family overseas, not many groups do that, god bless them.

As long as the music sounds good I listen to it. I listen to every thing from George Jones to Rob Zombie. My music preference is pretty much wide open. Don't forget the Marines Hymn.

OK, you want to rock? The only answer is Aerosmith!
And then you add some MoTown, a little Willie Nelson, a little Waylon Jennings.....and a bit of Zeppelin, too.
