Combat support contract?
So I ship out next month on the 15th and my recruiter told me my contract is combat support, my last choice. What kind of mos(s) will I likely end up with? He says all other jobs are taken so I can't change jobs before boot. My asvab was pretty high so I'd like a decent job. What do I do?

Tanks,..Amtracs... Artillery....I don't know much about them since I was a grunt....but I was very thankful that I had them to support us. How you get the job you want in those fields I don't know. But fom what I do know they had fun and it tanks some brains to run a tank....aim a big gun...and hit the target....Math is needed unless it's now computers...Whatever you do..Good luck! And strive to be the best you can be!

No specific comment (because I'd rather not get banned) about the numbers of poolees that come on here basically saying (but not in these words) that they are way too good for a specific Marine Corps MOS, and that because they are special (again, never said directly), they are above just any old job.
This one trend will show you just how far we've come as a country.

He better concentrate on earning the title and be thankful he got to get in the pool in the first place.

They want more, Jimmy.
Not all, but quite a few. Enough to make it very noticeable here.

it'll only be a crappy job if you make it crappy with a negative attitude like that.
and "logistics" isn't really a crappy job, you are in charge of the movement of all supplies, ammo, chow, people/Marines, etc....
I know a SSgt that just got out and he was a motor-t/logistics Marine. no college degree, just 12 years in the Corps doing what he did and he landed a 6-figure income(that's $100,000.00+) job managing a major food chain's warehouse and shipping.........my point is watch what you say because you ahve no clue what you're talking about and where experiences can get you.

I think the biggest part of our problem,
was when they abandoned the draft....
and started calling the Military
"PROFESSIONAL"s
They had to change the contract,
and MODIFY how they sold the product.....
Add to that the age and awareness of
the youngsters who wander in here-
"Sometimes NOT the brightest light
on the string" and ask what WE think
THEY should do, because they want
to be a grunt - but don't use the word..
they call it infantry...right,,
then wonder about "COMBAT ARMS" ...
Listen to your mother...

If a major war breaks out again, you'll have an orgasm, just knowing you have the job you do. If you really want to know what a crappy job is.....be an 03 in time of war.
