Aviation Electronics Technician
I've seen this post somewhere before and learned about the I strand and O strand of this occupatioin. My question however is how do you get selected to become an I strand or an O strand. Is that something that they just give you or do you have to work at one and over time switch over to the other? Thank you for you time.

If you are in the Avionics field (6400 MOS, I believe) you will be given an excact MOS 64XX while in your A School. I Level is the Intermediate Level. At this level you will most probably be assigned to a MALS. O Level is the Organizational Level. At this level you will be with a Squadron. Each of these (I and O) designate what types of tests and repairs you are authorized/trained to do.
