My MOS. Need help.
I have a question. and I leave for Boot Camp in 13 days so I need to take care of this quick. Right now they gave me my MOS which is MP however I really want to be a Heavy equipment mechanic. but I really want both. I know every one hates MP's and all but in all reality which MOS will help me pull rank faster and get me farther with my career in the Corps?

Sweetpea.
from your post above
You're gonna have a "LOTTA "
problems with your life in the Corps...
Most likely, your career in the Corps
will be for ONE enlistment.....
with MultipleA$$ thumpings
from Marines in your Immediate area..
.
You're about to leave home ,
and out from under Momas' feathers...
Most Marines rarely ever have any Contact
with MilitaryPolice.
Don't be surprised when you take your first
a$$thumping
They'll happen a lot,
unless you wise up quick...
Do you already have your EGA tattoo??

If all you are worried about is picking up rank faster and your career in the Corps maybe you shouldn't be a Marine.
Have fun in the fleet with that kind of attitude!

Like josephd said, if picking up rank fast is what you're after you're in for a rude awakening. For MPs it will be minimum 3 years without a meritorious promotion, which come only if your have s*** seriously locked on. Yes, I am a reservist MP (but the cutting scores are within 100 points of active duty) and I am closing on my 2 year mark. I am barely within 250 points of the score with my MCIs maxed out. I'll be lucky to make it around 4 years.
The helpful side of me wants to say that rank should not be your priority. Yes, it is nice and corporal is something I really desire to attain. Don't be a turd, excel at whatever your MOS ends up being, whether your're an MP or a mech. You shouldn't join to just pick up rank for the sake of it. With rank comes a lot of responsibility and if you aren't good at what you do you may not promote. It's up to your command as well. They can always non-rec (not recommend you) for promotion. Remember that.
If you have any questions about MPs or MP school or what ever message me. I'm happy to help.
