A Brother has left us...RIP....requesting assistance...

    Hey Brothers....

I have just discovered, after 3+ years of looking for him, that a dear friend of mine named Calvin Lawson Curtis has passed away in April last year.

My query...are there any here that may have known him, can confirm his Viet Nam unit (I'm thinking 7th or 9th Marines but don't quote me) or have some pics they could share with me?
I find nothing else on the web.
Any other site I might check that one may recommend?

He was two years younger than me so I'm guessing he was in country in '68 or so.
I think he was also wounded twice, shot in leg one time.

Here is the obit link with a pic of him.

I put some comments about my friendship with him located in the 'View Guestbook' tab at left below his name.

I know this is a shot from the hip to inquire after all these years....but....I need to know more.
I may post this at the Halls of Montezuma site also.

So, thanks in advance for reading this novelette and any help.

    Very sadly submitted.
    SF...carry on.

    Brother Bloop....

Thanks for chiming in....I appreciate the thoughts and reading the long post.

I guess we're all at the age now where we'll start to see those dearest to us depart without notice.

    Carry on....

Thanks for your kind thoughts Rocky.

I just hope some Marine here had served with him and has some G2 or pics of Calvin.

    Thanks Rock...I appreciate it.

I hope some luck with this inquiry will rear its head.

Shvt...it's been so long and it sure puts one in pensive mood when one makes this type of unexpected discovery.

    Later....

I forgot to mention that you posted this in the Vietnam forum.

Hundreds will see this thread but if I move it to " Looking for a Leatherneck " forum for you, Hundreds of Thousands will see it.

    Make the call Brother.

Happy to do it for you.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    Done Brother.

So many great stories come from that sub-forum, even years later .

"stephen norpel* Platoon 1040 San Diego (July- Sept) 1968"

    Hey Stephen....my first name too.

Thank you for providing that information.

How you did that I don't have a clue.

I got an email that you had responded to this thread but I do not see your post when I check in here?

So, he must have been in Viet Nam in late '68-early '69.
My rational being my time from beginning boot to Viet Nam was only 5.5 months.

Thanks again for you time and responding.
