Combat engineer opinion!! (officer's help!)
My name is Sam Fisjard,
Im a senior in high school and I am in need of some help regarding what to do in the Service. My dad was in the Navy for 26 years and has been the biggest inspiration in my life for everything I do but SPECIFICALLY the Military. I grew up in Ocean Side very close to Camp Pendleton as you probably know which was a big inspiration seeing the Marines train when driving to school. I plan on going to college through NROTC and becoming a Combat Engineer but I'm a little nervous and unsure about it. I've always been pretty hesitant on joining the ground forces for one reason, I'm terrified of stepping on a land mine, and LIVING. I know this is a stupid fear while at the same time something you should be afraid of but to sum my post up, I want to know how your experiences have been as combat engineer officers (enlisted as well_) and if you could give me a little background on what I can expect. Yes I am aware that during college I will be able to tour different jobs of the military but I'd like to get an Idea of what I want to do before joining. Thanks for your help and your service!!!
Sam

"Sweetpea"
You go to NROTC to become an OFFICER,
not a CombatEngineer-Officer...
I think you may be making a lot of ASSUMPTIONS
as to what officers do...Just because they "LEAD MARINES",
doesnt mean they can hit a nail with a hammer. Or could
qualify as a CombatEngineer IF they could learn how to use
the right side of a hand saw to cut a tree limb,
use a sweeper/detector to clear a path to the HEAD,
or a ruler to measure the top fold on the sheet and
blanket on their bunk..
YOUR WORRY...injuries and death.....
think of it this way
you're gonna die someday........
one piece, half piece, three dozen pieces....
only Christians get out of Life Alive....
Maybe ,, you should study Religion .
