    VA Contact Recommendation

    Hello Marines

I was medically discharged Honorably in 1990 after serving 11 years due to an accident on base while on active duty.

The medical board finallized and classified me with 10% service connected disability.

I have only received severence pay and nothing else since my discharge in 1990.

Health situation has gotten worse and I need to find out how to schedule an appointment to get medical care, and if possible start to recieve monthly benefits.

My question is what proof do I need to submit and to who does it get sent to ? I have copies of before and after requests and findings of the medical board and copies of my DD-214

Tried to contact the regional office in Hartford Connecticut without any luck..( always too busy to connect me to an assistent)
Is there a national number that I could speak to a live representitive ?

Know these are basic questions but im living overseas for many years..and would like a recommendation of how to proceed

    Thanks for any assistance

    Yes indeed.

Dept. of Veterans Affairs National Phone Number 1-800-827-1000.

Please listen to the menu options.

The last option is to speak to a live counselor.

Best of Health and Luck to you.

    Thanks Brothers !
I will let you know how I made out.
Even though I rated the monthly check since 1990 ..I never drew it because all I could think of was some vet who needed it more than me in far worse shape.
Civilians could never understand this.... but we do.

I had to get one foot amputated and the (good) one isnt doing so well is why I need some assistance.

Thanks and let me know if you need anything out of Santo Domingo..im on watch !
