Question Personal POV for training at Naval Air Station Pensacola?

My daughter just called me from MCT (her orders don't mention if a POV is allowed). Tomorrow she graduates and will be bussed down to NASP to either wait to start classes or start them. I know it can be a while before classes fill up. Her MOS is for flight crew/crew chief.

After numerous searches, I wasn't able to find an answer to a question she asked me.

Is is she able to have a personal automobile while she's in school. When we were down in Pensacola we found a church that she really enjoyed and would like to attend it regularly but it's about 4 miles from the base. She has a vehicle here and I could either ship it down to her or drive it down myself and fly home. Her schooling is going to be about 12 months long so I really hope she can have a vehicle. I've heard it is strict down there so I thought I'd ask here.

thanks in advance for any help.

    Kevin

When I was in school in Pensacola I had a car.
She can have a vehicle there and will want one.
Just give it a few weeks or so at least until she gets settled in.

    Best of luck to her.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I see you retired in in 1980. Do you know if this is still the case?

There are a lot of Marines on this Forum that are either still in Pensacola or just left. I will send some of them a PM so they can confirm on this thread.

    Stand by to stand by.

I just called the base for you.
Yes she can have a POV. Insurance, registration required to get her sticker at the gate.

If you need to confirm the phone # is 1-850-452-6618.

    Congratulations to your daughter.

Once she gets settled in at Pensacola, and as her personal time allows, she may consider joining this forum. We get a lot of questions about aviation MOS training and Pensacola but few of us have been there, or at least, recently. Her current viewpoint would be an asset here and greatly appreciated by a lot of people. Appreciate if you would extend the invitation to her for us - we can use her help.

The best to you and your Daughter.

Probably not what you want to hear----
Suggest one or both of you pencil and paper the luxury of having a POV on base.

The cab rental when necessary will save her money----

I'll let her know. She said it was pretty hectic getting set up down there and was exhausted. She had to do some indoc and had to be somewhere at 0430 today and we haven't heard back since. She said she heard a rumor that crew chief/crew member school was backed up until January but that's just scuttlebutt. We'll know the real answer to when she starts A school when she gets it from a reputable source. She already knows I talked to some Marines on a forum, I'll see if she'll sign up and give an insight to what's going on down there.

Thanks as as we'll for the reality check staff sgt.

If her class doesn't pick up till Jan she'll have plenty of time on her hands to join us here.
