    Edgar Wade Johnson (Died October 10, 2013) Edgar Wade Johnson Services for Edgar Wade Johnson will be held Monday, October 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Reid Whittington officiating. Burial will be at Prospect Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mr. Johnson, 76, of Meridian died Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Bedford Care Center. Johnson became a Marine in 1956 and went on active duty in 1959. He served in the Vietnam War and later became a drill instructor for three tours at the famous Parris Island Marine training facility in South Carolina. He served a total of thirty years before retiring from active duty, at which time he went to the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas where he served for four years as a drill instructor. In 1992, he returned home to Meridian and served four years as ROTC Instructor at Northeast High School. He was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his son, Rick Johnson and wife, Fran of Woodstock, Georgia; daughter, Terri Fisher and husband, Shane of Winston Salem, North Carolina and granddaughters, Heather and Holly Fisher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fredna Johnson. The family requests memorials be made to the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172 or www.toysfortots.org. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 13, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday, October 14, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
