Poolee Questions About Combat Engineering CM 1371

    Hello All,
My ship date was originally Aug. 26th, 2013, but I went to MEPs and was overweight. So I have now received a new shipping date for Dec. 9th, 2013. I also had to select a new job field. I'm really interested in CM, but have a few more questions. I understand that since I'm active duty I can only select a job field, not a specific MOS in that job field. I was curious to how people are selected for those specific MOS's? Is it all dependent what positions need filled? Is it how well you do during those schools? Your PFT score? Is it something I could hint to my instructors? I searched other threads and it really didn't answer my questions. So in conclusion how to I become an actual 1371 or is it out of my control?

What ? I really don't understand alot of your post.
All these questions should have been asked and answered by your Recruiter.

Did you need a waiver ?

What does your PFT have to do with your MOS ?
Hint at the Instructor ? What does that mean ?

I would like to answer your questions but there are alot of things here that don't seem right.

I was told that if I chose the job field CM that I'm not guaranteed 1371 Combat Engineer. That I don't get to select 1371 Combat Engineer. I was wondering if getting 1371 was just the luck of the draw or if was dependent on other variables, like PFT score, how well you do on the tests while at the school, etc. No sir, I didn't receive a waiver they just sent me home from MEPs and gave me a new ship date.

let me just say this,, my Daughter is a Marine.. and she qualified for electronics school ( i guess Sat and radio repair or something like that) but after Boot camp she wound up in Supply,, that is where they needed her,, now that she reenlisted she went for a Lat move to electronics again,, and was approved then came the orders for her School and they needed her in a different supple field so now that is where she is at,, now in her way to Iwakuni Japan..

Can't answer your question but seems to me your recruiter should be able to. What do they say?

I wanted to be an engineer and yup I was guaranteed the 1300 engineer field and yup sure as **** i was send to 7th engineer battalion.... As a 1391 bulk fuel specialist. And if you ever run into a bulk fuler ask them what they wanted to be.... Care to guess.... That's right a combat engineer. The best answer I can give you is needs of the Marine Corps and if you didn't get it in writing.

Do they have female combat engineers today (in my day they didn't)?
