Uniform History
Hey all. I've been looking, and can't seem to find, a good source that details how USMC uniforms have changed over the years. I'm especially interested in how/why the minor changes have occurred for the Service uniform since the 40s to now.
If there's a decent online source, or something I'd be able to go after while I'm at Pendleton during MCT, I'd appreciate it.

Yeah, if you read that link, or any of the top 50 or so from Google, they really don't have the kind of information I asked about.

What do you mean " If I read that link " ? Of course I did. That why I posted it.
Find your way down on that page to history.
It will tell you all the changes that you asked about even before the 40's.

Let me rephrase that. It has the changes, yeah, but I'm aiming to see the reasoning behind them and specific dates, etc. Basically what the wikipedia page has, but with the kind of detail you might find from a museum or an expert. There has to be a book or website with that kind of information available somewhere

Maybe you can find what your looking for here since you said a Museum.

BTW, why do you want to know the reasoning and specific dates behind the changes in the Service Uniform and what is your interest/intentions in all of this while at MCT ?

Hey Rocky,
when did we go from the leather "Sam Brown" belts to the Greens with one buckle?
Just asking because my brother, the other Cpl. Simpson, USMC was in the hospital in japan coming back from Chosin, Baker 1/7 and he told me stories about the Marines filing their belt buckles like razors to help them out in bar fights with the locals who mthought they were easy pickings.

As far as I know Tony, when the Korean War ended and also the same time we switched over to the Olive Drab Utes. It was right around the same time if I am not mistaken.
