    Enlisted to Officer Rank Ceiling?

Hi everyone! Just a quick question: What is the highest officer rank someone can achieve after having first been enlisted?

The highest I've personally met was a captain. I've asked my recruiter and he doesn't have a definite answer but he thinks that its Colonel. I'll be going to boot camp soon and I have dreams of making Brigadier General as a JAG. Is it possible?

    Thanks in advance Everyone!

A guy I went threw boot with, became a Lt.col after thirty years Lt.Col.Scott Westervelt.
He was a Gunny when he attended the basic school.

    Well, lets see......
Lieutenant General Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller began his Marine Corps career as an enlisted Marine as well as General Alred M. Gray, who was the Marine Corps 29th Commandant.
But....how about you take it one step at a time and make it through boot camp first

It depends on the route you take to become an officer. If you commission as an unrestricted officer (the majority of officers are unrestricted), the sky is the limit. If you commission as a Limited Duty Officer (LDO), then LtCol is the limit. LDOs are specialist officers, much like warrant officers are.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate the help. I will do my best to pass boot camp when the time comes! Sorry m14ed I didn't mean to be a nuisance to you. Google is a little unhelpful when it comes to long worded questions though.

Have a nice day everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving!!!

    That's OK , lad.

I have a tendency to be cranky when youngsters come in quickly
and start asking questions with out having spent any effort on their
own.....and ask how to improve their questions/querry.

BUT , catch on quick and pay attention...
Marines are quick to help when it's warrented.
