    Few Questions Regarding 1812

I've tried searching but for some reason the search function is refusing to work...

I asked my recruiter, but he wasn't 100% sure on this. Can a 1812 try for Recon at all?

Also, during my MOS training at Benning, will I be allowed Liberty or is that given to certain Marines depending upon certain things?

    Thanks,

    J Weyer

    1. Maybe if a slot is open and you are selected.
    2. Yes.

Just concentrate on Earning the " Title " first.

    One step at a time...

    Best of luck to you.

    This is a joke right...

You are going to be a tanker... that is like the total opposite of recon.

this literally made me laugh out loud!....

but to answer the motivators/OP's question...Being that you are not an 03xx you will not be afforded the opportunity to go to BRC until you have a few years time in service and you're an NCO. Even then though your command will have to approve your release even if there is a Recon slot open.

No. The closest 03xx unit to me was about 4.5 hours away. I live about 20 minutes from Knox, which is where the 4th Tank Battalion, E Co is. Being a Tanker sounded like more fun to me.. I'm going Reserves for now, and attempting to get on the Police Department I've been a Cadet with for the past 2.5 years.. If I don't get on, I'll throw a packet in for Active after a few years with my unit..

I figured it would be a lot harder since I wouldn't be in an Infantry field, but instead an Armor one.
    Thanks,

protip coming from a reservist, you won't be able to put in for active duty until you've served your entire reserve contract, which is 6 years now.

    Good luck.
