    Uniform and jewlery

My son went to a very old and respected summer millitary camp and earned a graduation ring. I was woundering after herearns his EGA if he can wear that ring in uniform?
I know that he has not earnd that right yet but I was just woundering.

I don't see why he couldn't - but I am sure some would/will disagree. Within reason -- he won't be sporting his bling in the field.

I am sure there's a reg on it.

But my question is - why would he want to?

After he earns the title I doubt a summer camp ring will hold the same value.

    Just me though.

Rings are permissable as long as they are not gaudy or offensive.

...that and it will depend on the job/MOS he will be doing. The field, as mentioned above, will be a no-no..but also if he's going to be a mechanic or something like that. They will let him know. On my last deployment I actually wore my wedding band all the time, including patrols, but I always wore gloves. In garrison the only guys I really see wearing rings (other than wedding bands) are Masons and Naval Academy rings. Anything beyond that, in my experience, is either rare or I just haven't noticed...not that I pay much attention to that. I know a few people that tried wearing their bootcamp graduation ring...but that never lasts long.

It's an achievement and something to be Proud of.
When he earns his EGA that trumps anything prior (and perhaps future )

He does not want any bling that may get him dead (reflection)
He does not want something to cause an injury (mechanic with a ring)

    It is an excellent keepsake

Sure he can but depends on the situation.

The first time he is told not to he will then know the rules about it.
