can you be forced through recon training?

I'm a marine at 2nd rd bn in camp lejeune. we have a component here called radio recon. recently we got a new BC and he has made it to where you can be chosen to do the RIP, as opposed to it being voluntary (which in this case, didnt mean you can be voluntold, you actually had a yes or no option under the old BC)... anyway i've heard a lot of different things, and also this is my first post so I'm not sure if i'm even posting in the right place, but can you be forced to go recon? also these things have nothing to do with the 0321 recon guys, all of us (or the majority of us at least) are all in the 2600 field
