    0313 LAV crewmember

Hello everyone ! I am a new member, a former USN F14 Tomcat plane captain and ordinance man. My son is a Marine at SOI/ITB West with about 4 weeks left of training. He thought he was going to train as an 0331 machine gunner at the split, but he has been selected to train as an 0313 LAV crew member. He qualified rifle expert in boot camp with very high scores. He has 100% PFT and aces his written exams at ITB. He is a squad leader at ITB. He did not have that great of ASVAB or GT going into boot but it seems he has come around. He is very motivated, just unsure of an LAV assignment. Any input or advice ?

The LAV has a machine gunner post.

    Check out this link:

    Light Armored Vehicle 25 (LAV-25)

He won't even have to carry that machine gun! He should be happy.
