Marines and their families spent the afternoon enjoying grilled food, games, and each others company during the 2nd Annual Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 Avionics Family Day at the log cabin aboard the Air Station, May 18. MCAS BEAUFORT, S.C. — Marines, spouses and their children gathered to mingle and enjoy some time together away from the busy work centers.

“This event is not only for the Marines but for the Marines’ families,” said Capt. Michael Costa, the avionics division officer in charge. “It takes a degree of patience and sacrifice to let your loved one stay at work late or deploy.”

The avionics Marines of MALS-31 are responsible for intermediate electronic aircraft and warfare equipment re*pair for Marine Aircraft Group 31.

“The Marines work as hard as they do because of their loved ones at home,” Costa continued.

Family day entertainment included: bounce castles, volleyball, flag football, sumo wrestling suits and bungee runs.

“We want to show family members of deployed and deploying Marines that there is a sense of understanding among the unit personnel,” said Staff Sgt. Brian Hughson, a MALS-31 avionics technician. “This helped to break the ice a bit, so they know they can come to us.”
