January 1966, Parris Island, white skivvies & long underwear. Anyone remember the marking kits with black and white ink. The white was for marking the black wool socks.

Was never issued tennis shoes. Was issued one pair of Combat Boots (Rough Leather) which we had to polish and one pair of Boondockers which we wore for drill. I remember that we had to have the heels replaced while in Boot Camp because we wore them out from digging them in and making them pop. There was no such animal as stress fractures or heel contusions and if there would have been it would have been taken care of at sick call wilh a couple APC's (All purpose capsules). Those things worked for most everything that ailed you.
