Most people don’t complete a million push-ups in a lifetime, but Sgt. Enrique Treviño plans to do that many in a year to raise awareness and $10,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

That equates to 2,732 push-ups per day and nearly 114 every hour.

Sound impossible? Not for 26-year-old Treviño, a Dallas native and administration clerk assigned to Marine Embassy Security Group’s Region 4 headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He began cranking out push-ups on Jan. 1.

“I had personal doubts the first day,” he said. “I think I was half way through, and my body was spent, and I thought, ‘I’ve got to wake up tomorrow and do this again with 364 days left in the year.’”

As of Feb. 6, he had already topped 103,500 push-ups. On some days he has cranked out more than 3,100.

He does it by taking an intense 40-minute workout block at lunch to complete between 750 and 850 push-ups, he said. Throughout the rest of the workday, he will hit the deck every 15 or 20 minutes under the watchful eye of Gunnery Sgt. Lamont Calloway.
