    True Faith...............

" That is true faith which holds by the Lords faithfulness when friends are gone, when the body is sick, when spirits are depressed, and the light of our Father's countenance is hidden " C.H. Spurgeon

Let me explain the meaning of "defend my own ways before him " his defense is his utter trust (faith) in his God ! no matter the accusations that had been laid against him for his calamities.
It is not a defense of HIS Own works/efforts, but God alones faithfulness.

It is not a defense of the many paths to God.
It is by faith and faith alone that is refereed too.
