Christmas and Holidays at MCT
Does anyone know what the current process is for holidays while at MCT?
Do Marines in training get liberty? Leave?
Are they allowed to leave base?
What about Marines in sick bay or guard duty?
Thanks.

Sick bay/Guard duty would be 'no'. (Someone always has to have the duty on holidays...).
Liberty, probably.

I was in MCT (about 6 years ago) over the 4th of July. I realize that is a "smaller" holiday than Christmas or Thanksgiving, but we didn't get any time off. We were in the field and it was just business as usual. They did give us a hot meal though. Of course, I was tasked with some kind of working party and didn't get back until all the food was cold. But ya know... it's the thought that counts. Got so see some fireworks way off in the distance.
Actually, we were never allowed to leave the base at all on liberty during MCT... except with special permission.

I know a few people who had MCT during Christmas time frame. They told me that they did not receive the entire day off, however, they were able to call home and got some liberty. I guess it depends on how far in training you are and which coast you go to.
