Bayonet course
Hello! This is a question for new Marines, or anyone that has an answer
Recently, one of the old poolees (now a Marine!) came back from boot camp.
I don't remember how it was brought up, but she said that she didn't do the bayonet assault course because it was removed. Apparently, a girl had cut her throat accidentally while engaged in the course and so they had removed it as a required part of training.
Is this true?
Thanks!

Well, I can tell you that in my personal experience that as recent as October 2011 we did the bayonet assault course, but then again, I am not female, nor did I go to Recruit Training at Parris Island. So I can't say for sure. I am vouching on my behalf, but I'm not too sure on how they run things over at P.I. You should ask for more details, because I don't see how they could remove the ENTIRE course when Marines have always been like peanut butter and jelly with our bayonets. We used dummy blades for most of the course, then switched to real blades, but getting rid of the whole thing? Seems questionable. Google is your friend...

Seems questionable to me, since when I was there observing bayonet training in '09, they were using rubber knives!

I did google sir, but nothing.
I was thinking the same thing, questionable.
Thanks for the responses!

I graduated 20111118 so last friday and we DID the bayonet assault course 3 times while in boot camp... once with a live bayonet and twice with bayonet trainers.
