We pulled into the harbor of Efate, New Hebrides, a pretty island. While there, we went out in Higgins boats to time for the landing. We had a dummy run one morning at 8am in Higgins boats and were back at 2pm. We went on a two-day problem, camped out and dug foxholes. We had outposts and stood watch.

On the 18th we were still in the harbor of Efate, We lay around all day.

We were back on the ship on the 22nd, we had swiped a 50-gallon barrel of wine from the French, and had a little wine party.
