Still got every single letter from you, along with every other letter I recieved while in boot. Its actually alot of fun going home and re-reading the ones I recieved and alot of the ones I had written as my friends and family kept all of them. Brings back alot of memories.

OT: I would love to write to any one who is wanting, only problem is my mail is very slow, and by the time I recieved one letter and sent it back and recieved a second, you would be most likely graduated.

I have some advice for those who are headed for boot camp.
And that is know who your friends are, getting a letter in boot camp
address to General or any rank other then PVT is not going to make
your DIs happy, and they will not make your day happy. I think we have
all seen this happen, it was funny to watch but not to those who were
    getting those letters.

    Very true---

all kidding aside, make sure you address it to Private so and so, or Recruit so and so, no fooling around, because once the DIs see something off the wall like General or Sgt Major Smith, it will not be a one-time incident being PTd to death, the recruit could be branded for his whole time there, so save the joking around for after he or she gets back. The DIs will make light of anything addressed like that, but they look for things like that, so don't get your brother or friend punished because of a joke you couldn't resist.

Your friend or relative will be the one on the receiving end, not you.

Just got another PM about letters, someone asking to be put on the "list", an informal list that we all share here re writing to new recruits

Lep--thanks for making this a sticky, it kept dropping to the bottom of the pile but we've been getting quite a few PMs about letters lately, so thanks again for making this permanent.....

You can count me in as well! I may not be a Marine, but I can be funny/witty when I take a notion to be. :o)

I saw a thread you started or contributed to, about your own efforts re letter-writing to service members and I was impressed and so were a lot of other folks on here......you need not be a Marine to be welcome here----as I said, your own efforts in this regard are really great!

There has been some discussion about how to do this, writing to recruits, and probably the best way would be to let each other know as soon as we get a letter from a recruit, then pass the boot camp address info along to each other. So far there are about four of us.

If anyone else is interested, the best thing to do is simply to post about your interest HERE, and we can be sure we share the info with you when any of us gets a letter from any recruit.

That way it will maximize the amount of letters any recruit gets.
If we do it any other way, someone is going to get left out. So we will see who is interested in receiving info about recruits' addresses just by reading this thread and seeing who said he or she expressed interest.

CRuss92 is interested, he'll be posting here soon

If anyone is interested in receiving letters while in boot camp, tell us here on this thread so we can all give you our address info.
Or, one of us will give you the info and when we hear from you, we'll pass along your boot camp address info among ourselves, either way.
But we need to hear from you on this thread so we know who is interested.
Too late after you ship, you won't have an address to write to

CRuss92 is interested but I forgot that he can't post here, so I'm passing along his interest to others. He'll write us as soon as he can from PI---then I'll pass along his address to anyone interested

MunkyVSRobot is interested...keep in mind that poolees cannot post in this section, so we can pass along their statement of interest here. As soon as he writes to me, I'll give you his boot camp address info and we can get the letters going.

Just checked my post office box------as of now, 110PM on Wednesday, October 19th, no letters from boot camp received by me------as soon as I get a letter I'll pass on the information

CRuss92 tells me he is shipping out EARLY---Monday instead of later on, so we'll look for a letter from him so I can pass along his boot camp address asap
