Letter Written from Guadalcanal 9-11-45
"Robert Lindsay and I are still in the same outfit, but in different companies. I get to see him lots now. He was on Guam, but we were on different ships; that was the reason we didn't see one another."
"I'll tell you a little about life aboard a transport ship. I've been on eight different ships and spent over 125 days aboard. It is usually crowded and hot. We have good chow, but it's so hot in the mess hall you can't enjoy it, and it's so hot in the holes where we sleep that we usually sleep topside where it is cool. I don't mind the ship too much, but I'm glad I'm not a sailor."
