Is there still hazing in the Marine Corps?
Good Afternoon Marines,
I have been thinking of joining the Marine Corps but I am a bit worried about hazing. My dad was a Marine and he told me a few story's about being hazed and It got me wondering if it still goes on today and if it does how bad is it?

You do worry too much
If one link in a chain is weak-----the whole chain fails
If one recruit causes the platoon grief -----the platoon pays
The platoon will police their own to prevent recurrence
Is your question answered ?

NO! If you are told to get YOUR toothbrush and clean the grout in the DI's shower with it, just grab YOUR toothbrush and get in there and clean the grout in the shower and pretend like you're happy as hell doing it!

Dave is right, there is no such thing as hazing. However, there is a whole lot of supplemental instruction given to each and every recruit.

Sigh.
"Hazing" is a term that the mothers of America use nowadays when young Jannie or young Johhnny is either doing things that imbibe 'esprit de corps' (blood wings for example) or being given extra duties in lieu of 'paper' punishment.
A worn out and over used term, in my opinion. The Sob sisters of 'Murka consider 'hazing' anything that might make you feeeeeeel badly, or damage your fragile self esteem, or perhaps show you the error of your ways by inflicting pain at the appropriate time.
Hazing is a collegiate term for getting spanked by paddles while wearing an adult diaper and chanting obscure rituals. THAT is 'hazing'.

I DO try.
'Hazing'. Pfffffffffffffffffffffft.
And kid, I'm not downing you, the question is actually a valid one. But much of what you'll hear is Sea stories. The other isn't 'hazing' per se.
However, the Marine Corps has strict rules and guidelines on 'hazing'.....which will be strictly enforced if someone gets caught doing something galactically stupid.

Stick close to your "Mommy" kid.
You might ask her what she wants you to do with your life.
Go "U S Air Force" please, or , perhaps " U S Navy ". IF the thought of hazing scares you, stay out of our Corps.
Besides, There has not been a case of hazing proven since Ribbon Creek, and that was just a mess up in communications.
Man, these new kid wannabees' make me wanna (puke) Hurl
