When you get there you will get to call home/some one to let them know you arrived safe and sound.

I tried to call. Never was able to. My family didn't hear from me until I was able to send my first letter about 3 weeks after getting down there. The phone call home should be the last thing on your mind.

If you get hurt or something happens your family will be contacted. You wont be able to talk to them during boot if that doesn't happen, outside a nice senior giving you a phone call... but don't expect one.. very few get that. I got that for shooting all of the targets at the rapid fire segments perfect.. senior just happened to be standing behind me.

Lol yeah likewise here I didn't get to speak to my family till I got to write my first letter.

I got about a 15 second phone call. Supposed to read the sheet. Instead, I told my Mom "Hear all that yelling? They're being quiet right now and they don't seem to shut up or get tired".
