Thread: Marine Stare

    Marine Stare

In July, I went to the Evening Parade at 8th & I. On the way, I asked a Marine in the Metro for the directions. He gave me that Marine Stare, then asked me to walk down the same side of the street with him. He gave me that dirty word stare (you know what it is).

Why would he do that to a lady who just asked for directions? He wouldn't stop staring until I said that I would rather walk down the other side of the street.

Did you ever think that Marine could be suffering from PTSD and is Hyper-Vigilante like ALOT of us ?

Say a Prayer for all those who suffer..........

Maybe he will read and respond, other than that; how are we supposed to know this individual Marine and his personality?!

You capitalized Marine Stare as if it is something known to you.
Explain to us what it is.
You can go back to the area sometime and see if you run into him again, as none of us have any idea what you are talking about.
    But good post anyway

    marine stare

    It's dirty. Eye F...ing. I'm a lady, I won't type the whole word.

I didn't mean to capitalize marine stare. I think at first he thought I was trying to pick him up...I wasn't. Don't get me wrong, he was hot, but I was going to the parade for a different reason, to show honor to my deceased father, so I couldn't destroy that.

Be that as it may, I'm still not sure why he stared at me suspiciously.

I did, actually. I thought it may have been the 1,000-mile star as well.

My father had that from WWII. He also had survivor guilt.

Maybe he was there to honor a fallen brother in arms, a father, too, and he was lost in thought.

I see and receive a huge variety of stares and looks from many non-Marines, just a bunch of civilians.

If I tried to figure out why everybody looked at me the way they did and profile them...well, that might be a monumental task, huh?

I'd just forget about it and move on.

Also, just curious why you posted your situation in the Ask A Marine Forum for poolees and wannabes to ask a Marine a question?

If you approached the Marine in Washington,DC asking for directions and he gave them to you.....and he asked you to be on the side of the street that he was on and you declined....he may have just wanted to escort you to Marine barracks 8th& I for your safety and welfare....and knew an easier route.

He may have just been trying to be a gentleman after you made your intentions known.

He may of been giving you the thousand yard stare....because it is unusual in DC to be approached on the streets without an ulterior motive or a mugging.

Or maybe he was battle hard and learned to approach everyone that way.

Then again you do that most Marines are horn dogs and he might have thought your by yourself and you said he was hot and he may of thought the same of you and wanted to escort you to the evening parade.

If he was younger than you he may of thought of you as a mother figure...and some Marines like older women....I'm wrong most Marines like any woman.....so.....you have a whole lot of varibles in your question.

And without knowing where he is at on the grid....it's hard to give a direct answer.

According to Eleanor Roosevelt who resided not too far from 8th and I on Pennsylvania Avenue .....he may have fit in this group.

“The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!”

Do we all think that every single thread, without exception, is for real?
We take all of them at face value, and maybe we shouldn't

Yeah but how could I sleep if I didn't at least give it my best shot?

Some are not worth answering....but maybe this one warrants an answer....she did follow protocol except for maybe the wrong forum....but if I saw Ask A Marine as a civilian or dependent unless I knew otherwise I would probaly post in the same thread.
