ok so im a poole and im leaving pretty soon. they told me to go open contract and they cant change my date. they say either i get open contract or i get discharged... i really need to know if open contract is that bad? and my recruiter told me i cant get cook or infantry if i go open, is this true? should i go open contract or no?

I have to answer this profile or not because that is a huge lie. Open contract means you get whatever the Marine Corps needs. If they need another grunt, you will be a grunt. Same with any other job. Open contract is something you should strive to avoid. If you get a job you don't have any interest in, then you will more than likely turn into a disgruntled Marine who thinks they were screwed over even though you signed the papers.
