    Bomb alert over 'break-wind' dog

A novelty toy dog which breaks wind sparked a major security alert at an American airport.
Page designer Dave Rogerson's life-size mechanical terrier set off a security detector at Norfolk Airport in Virginia.

Armed security staff were alerted when the toy's wind-breaking mechanism registered as a high explosive on sensitive monitoring equipment.

Mr Rogerson, 31, from Thorner, Leeds, was questioned by FBI agents and looked on in amazement as they took a series of swabs from the mechanical toy's rear end.

The toy animal was eventually returned to him, but he was not allowed to take his planned flight and had to take an alternative route to North Carolina.

Mr Rogerson said: "There's no humour at American check-ins and for about 20 minutes I was quite scared.

"They told me it is the highest reading they had for explosives and they took it very seriously.

"They were very jumpy and convinced there was something explosive in the dog."

Eventually the FBI experts decided the toy was harmless and returned it to him.

He has now named the toy dog Norfolk after the airport.

Sort of makes you wonder about what sort of "mind" thinks about how to have a toy dog fart; and what other things this fellow does to entertain himself.

I do have to say though that the image of a covey of airport security folk swapping a toy dogs butt does lend itself to an amusing image !

Gator gets out in airliner cargo hold

Reptile mysteriously escapes crate in baggage compartment

    ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEWARK, N.J., Oct. 27 — An alligator was captured inside the baggage hold of an airliner on Monday after escaping from its crate.

THE YOUNG alligator, just 4 to 5 feet long, remained inside a burlap bag with its mouth bound shut, American Airlines spokesman Tim Wagner said.

Officers captured it with a looped device and put it back in its crate with three other gators shipped from Miami, officials said.

Authorities were looking into how the reptile got out.
The gator was found outside its box when the cargo hold of the Boeing 767 was opened, Wagner said.

Officials said they did not know why the alligators were being shipped. But their paperwork was in order, Wagner said.

Who needs a "Toy" dog. I have one, a pit/lab mix, that can peel the paint on the walls when she lets one go. Talk about Chemical Warfare. LOL
