Question about "volunteering" medical info
Hey there Marines. Before I ask my question, I wish to state that I have NO intentions of lying on my medical forms. However, I think everyone can agree that one shouldn't volunteer information to the doctors if they don't ask about it.
So, my problem is that I do not have a sense of smell, and haven't since birth. However, I've never seen a doctor about this, never had any tests done for it, and was never diagnosed with anything. So, would it be lying if I were to say I do not have anosmia (which means lack of sense of smell) since I was never officially diagnosed with this?
Again, I want to clarify that I do not want to lie. But I just want to know if it counts as a lie if I was never diagnosed with it. Thanks in advance for your time!

If you know it is not normal, then you report same to MEPS. Does not take a brain surgeon to figure this out. Just do not try to sniff out some drugs.

At worst it will disqualify you for service.
At best it will just disqualify you from certain MOS's.

If you have never had an actual diagnosis for this, why bring it up? OK, you can't smell...don't go into ordinance, refueling or food service...

Don't lie about anything. You know you have it, so that means it's as good as diagnosed by a doctor.
