    Reconnaissance

Alright, I know that there is already a post on this, but it doesn't really answer my question. First of all, sorry for the spelling on the reconaissance if it's wrong. So when the recon team gets the information that they need, and then head back to base, do they join the grunts to go during the raid on an area?

That question is far too specific to individual circumstances to answer, though generally no. That's not their mission but there are exceptions to everything. Don't count on it, however, because it would make little sense.

If you're looking to be a grunt on a raid then go be a grunt. If you want to be called recon then go be recon. But don't try to be the guy that wants to be a part of every single team doing every single job. Whatever job you're in focus on that.

When the team returned from their patrol, they had a debriefing and a "Recon Debriefing Report" was written and distributed to several levels of command.

The report referenced the team call sign, how many men in the patrol, their patrol order number, the time of insertion and extraction, the major routes they took, a summary of the terrain, rate of movement, likely landing zones, what they observed (trails, activity, etc.) and if they made contact with the enemy w/ specifics.

Reconnaissance teams were not then attached to the grunts..
