WWII - 8th 155mm Gun Battalion Fmf

Oscar Edwin Reece, Boot Camp-Parris Island 1942. His best friend Thomas McCarthy and he were with 8th 155mm Gun Battalion FMF.
McCarthy was killed beside my dad, Oscar Reece on May 9, 1945.

Trying to find out what division, etc they were with. Don't know any details of his locations and would like any help finding out where they served in WWII.

Thank you for the reply. I know this is a stupid question, but how do I get that document? My dad did not talk about the WWII or Korea and I have not found any of his military documents. I have some of his medals and bars but that is all.

No its not a stupid question. If you know his SS# you can easily find it here.

Without the Social it is still possible but you have to provide more info.

When Mr McCarthy was killed May, 1945 the two of them most likely were on Okinawa. They were either in the 1st or 6th Marine Divisions. That's a place to start
