Cant wait to be a MARINE

Hello everyone, i am brand new to this website and have been reading the forums since 6:30am this morning. For a while now i wanted to be a MARINE, and by the looks of it i will enlist soon enough. Just watched Ears Open, Eyeballs Click.. and not only did it freak me out, but it hyped me up as well. The years keep passing by, and im 23 years old now. Im working full time now doing heating and air conditioning work, and every morning i wake up doing something that i dont want to, and it is killing me. Im in the best shape of my life, i just lost a bit more than 20 pounds by doing calestetics and dieiting properly. In addition, doing some brazilian jiu jitsu which i have come to love. Im pretty short, standing at 5 foot 6 155lbs .. i hope that wont be a problem when i enlist. Something i am worried about though is that, i have a star of david tattoo on my upper left arm.. it is not visable in short sleeves though. Im just worried about what others would say when they see it at boot camp. Either way within the next few days i will be visiting a US MARINES recruiter to discuss this further. If possible, it would be great to hear some feedback.. Thank you!

As far as your weight for your height is concerned, you're fine.....as for the tattoo, you'll have to discuss that with a recruiter. He/she will be able to give you the most up-to-date info on that.
    Good luck to you.

Welcome to life my friend. My wife asked me why don't you stop complaining about your job and find something you enjoy doing. I replied because drinking beer won't pay the bills.

    Salute!

I wouldn't worry about that tattoo. Plenty of guys have all sorts of religious and just plane stupid tattoos. Heck, a kid in my plt has the order of the Jedi tattoo on his shoulder. I doubt anyone will give you crap for it.

It depends, tat wise. If it's not visible below a short sleeve, and it's just what you say it is, shouldn't be an issue, although it will likely still require a waiver. Don't see any other problems, good luck with the recruiter~!

    And welcome to the site!

A google search led me to the MCO on Tattoos: http://www.marines.mil/news/messages...MIN029-10.aspx

Your height and weight will not be a problem, either: http://www.*************/military-fi...-weight-charts

You'll find that if you look the right way, google will answer a lot of questions and save you a lot of time. Aside from that, good luck with joining the Marine Corps.

AJ is correct. One note though, while google is great, make sure you are looking at the most 'current' MCO or document, i.e. the one with the latest date on it. Google will sometimes pull up historical docs that have since been changed.

It's actually easy when the person follows the site rules, runs a search, and is polite and respectful...

    Jus' sayin...

    Good luck!

had to reschedule my asvab due to personal reasons, but spoke to my recruiter about an aprox bootcamp date. If i leave around october il have infantry available to me which is what i want over anything else. I was looking at Rifleman/mortar man for infantry units.. in addition i was also looking at field artillery. Most definitley would like some feedback Marines
