Ask a Marine forum rules..NO PROFILE NO ANSWERS!!! READ BEFORE POSTING..MARINES TOO!
Just as the title says....THESE ARE THE RULES. I'm not kidding. It's getting so that at least once a day, sometimes more, someone wanders in, posts a lengthy question, and fails to fill out a profile, fails to search, is disrespectful, hasn't bothered to even LOOK at the rules for this forum...etc etc etc. READ the below, then the stickies. Follow the rules, and your stay here can be very instructional and enjoyable.
Failing to follow them....and you've chosen...poorly.
One of our most basic, yet most often violated...
No profile.
Henceforth, then, those without a profile will have the question/thread DELETED. No excuses, no warning, it'll just go away.
Another....disrespect. Hey, I don't come into YOUR house and poop on your kitchen floor, do I? No. You wouldn't be very happy if I walked up to your front door and started telling you what a jerk you are, would you? No. Well, consider this little part of the internet the Marines "house". You...are a GUEST here. Disrespect gets you permabanned with no questions asked. Period. Usually with some sort of pithy commentary from me so everyone knows exactly why you are being booted.
Sigh...
I've grown weary.

I weep for what this country is becoming, and fear for my children and grandchildren's future if any more democrats gain national office. We lose more and more freedoms every single day to creeping nannystatism and those who vote for Democrats only want to increase that. Anyone voting for a 'dem' is someone who likely wants to take everything YOU have worked for and mortgage your kids future as well.

Additional information:
READ the stickies, located at or near this post.
Question about a GED? There is a sticky for that.
How about a criminal record? Sticky.
Mental health? Sticky.
Grammar, spelling, sentence structure? "Cn i txt a ? LOL" NO. You cannot. There is a sticky for that.
Officer question? Sticky.
Do I have to fill out a profile? Why, yes you DO. Sticky. (Hint..this one)
I want to get a USMC Tattoo... Sticky.
Wow...all this information...just to ask a question! Why are you all so roooode? Sticky for THAT, too. (And your time here will be....short).
In other words, the Marines (and occasional sailor) have either answered, or heard, many of these questions before. Thus, we have taken much time and effort to build you some instant information to these many questions. It's not that we don't WANT to talk to you...but we can save you (and us) time, effort, and bandwidth.
IF you are going to become a Marine, well, you'd better get used to this very quick....the Marine Corps has rules. Just because you may not like certain ones...or even be familiar with all of them....you'll be held accountable for them. ALL of them. WE will begin that process...here.
Last bit...those little rank insignia you see at the bottom of many of our screen names? We EARNED those ranks in the Marine Corps. Some of us retired at them. We take them seriously. They aren't given for number of posts, questions answered, or time served here. Addressing us by our rank is a courtesy. Just as you would address your Doctor, Lawyer, Police officer or other professional...WE expect to be addressed as such. If you aren't sure...'Sir' or 'Marine'...or 'Ma'am' (Yes...we have female Marines here) works just fine, thank you.

Additional Hints are added. ALL WANNABEES AND MARINES POSTING IN THIS SECTION ARE HEREBY PRESUMED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING, READING, UNDERSTANDING, AND COMPREHENDING THE RULES POSTED.
************
Fill out your profile. This is will allow us to provide an accurate answer using the most information available.
Plus, it's part of the rules you agree to when you sign up for Leatherneck. Failing to fill out your profile will get your thread deleted (as noted, above). Also, we don't want your information so we can steal your identity, it's so we know to whom we are speaking. That means, more than a first name or some sort of nickname like 'C-Dawg'. That, too, will get you tossed out of here. Save your cute pet names for facebook.
Read the rules of the Leatherneck.com website for Poolees and Wannabees: http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28989
And if you DON'T read them, you'll still be held responsible for them. ALL OF THEM.
Remember that this is mostly for Poolees and Wannabees or, in some cases, questions on their behalf. There are more appropriate forums for Marines and Marine Family Topics.
Correct. If you aren't here to help, or take issue with the Marines that ARE trying, at least, to help, then why are you here? Trolls will NOT be tolerated no matter who you are. Constructive answers are the best. Yes, we all sometimes get off topic, but try to keep it to a minimum, please. I will BAN Marines from answering in this section if this rule isn't followed. Period. And you won't even know it until you try to post another pithy little comment and the system tells you you no longer have permission to do so.
Recruiters are busy working in the real world. There are only a few Marines on recruiting duty or with recruiting experience that frequent this forum. If your question can only be answered by a Marine who is fully aware of current policies, you’ll have to pick up a phone or visit an office.
Correct! Visiting these days is the preferred method. Furthermore, showing up here to cry about a recruiter 'lying' to you, 'not helping' you enlist because you have 7 felony convictions and 3 illicit children, a GED and you REALLY, REALLY want to, will be met with swift and efficient extraction from the site. No one has a 'right' to enlist into the Marine Corps (or any other service). Recruiting these days is likely easier than it's been in a decade or more, because EVERYONE wants to enlist. The Marine Corps is 'full' and actually overstrength. If you've already been rejected and just want to come here to complain, save yourself the trouble and post it someplace....else.
There are no doctors frequenting this website. If you have a medical question that hasn’t already been answered by searching the forums, you’ll have to contact a recruiting office. If they cannot answer your question, you may be directed to a medical representative from MEPS.
Again, read that one carefully. We are Marines (and a few Corpsman). We are not doctors. Medical questions will usually be answered by someone cutting and pasting a section from the about.com website. We cannot explain why your waiver was denied and someone elses was granted. Sorry but that's the way THAT is, too.
Only Marines will answer posts on this forum. If you haven’t earned the Title, you won’t be allowed to pollute this board with silly opinion and conjecture.
This rule will be STRICTLY enforced. Expect extraction via black helicopters unless you've BTDT. Look at it this way.....you have a question about Brain Surgery, so you go to a Brain Surgery forum and ask it. You are immediately answered by a hospital janitor who says "It's been MY experience".... which is then followed up by the Security Guard who says "I once actually SAW someone get Brain surgery!" Get the picture?
No crying, please. If you are posting here, you must want to be a Marine. If one of our answers hurts your feelings or you feel we are not treating you nicely, you may want to consider a different career. If you cannot handle things said to you on the internet, you will not survive in our Corps. Wal-mart is always accepting applications.
As is Barber college. Paintball and Airsoft teams are always looking for 'quality' applicants as well. Then, there is the Army. Also, Marines who have issues with this and do 'Drive by' responses, who never spend time in this forum answering questions day in and day out, can keep their opines to themselves. Otherwise, they'll be deleted, and that will be that. If there are questions, then read the rules.
Expect respect until you disrespect. Marines follow a tradition of mentorship which is the reason why most of us answer questions here. If we perceive a bad attitude in your correspondence with us, you may become familiar with more of our traditions, hostility and belligerence. Don’t go away mad. Just go away. The site administrators will expedite your departure.
Why argue? Even if done respectfully, there is no point in expressing rebuttals or contrary opinions to our responses. If we are wrong, another Marine will correct us if necessary. We understand that things change and we can occasionally learn things. However, unless you’re a Marine and BTDT, your input doesn’t carry much weight with us. As one of our brothers said “arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics; you may win, but you’re still retarded.”
Remember, you are a GUEST in OUR house. Until you earn that title, a GUEST you shall remain. Guests can be escorted out. They can also be thrown out. Marines, if you are correcting another Marine (because we all occassionally slip up) do so TACTFULLY and RESPECTFULLY. If it's something that you feel requires some sort of 'barking/bellowing' action, either take it to the PM's or advise a moderator. Either way, Disrespecting a fellow Marine will bring fire onto your position no matter how 'right' you are.
Last thing before you post: You sure you did a search?
There is a little box located in each forum, and one at approximately the 1155 position on the screen. Use them. They will help you. If it's an old topic (a year or more) you might want to ask a question about it anyway, PLEASE tell us that you found it, and wanted to know if the information is still correct. Things change and we want to give you the best information we possibly can give you. Again, though, sometimes it's best to simply ASK THE RECRUITER.
Again....check the rules before you post:

Some more information, consolidated for your reading pleasure:

This one is for Marines who come in here and give 'helpful' answers to wannabees....
Let me be clear on this....RANTING about your sucky life choices, MOS, yelling at some poor noob about what a mistake they are making....etc etc etc is NOT helping and quite simply, will get you barred from this section with no further warning.
This does NOT prohibit the normal butt chewings for failing to follow site rules/regs/SOP's. Wannabees/Poolees are PRESUMED to have read and understand same before posting. You want to be a Marine, you'd better get used to being treated as an adult who KNOWS what the rules are. Shame on YOU for not reading and knowing them.
MARINES....that goes for you too. Re-read this section from time to time. Ask yourself if what you are posting is helpful or just 'piling on'? If the latter, is it neccessary, or has the offender 'gotten the message'?
Last bit....you've likely noticed that I've gotten into the practice of closing threads when a question has been asked and properly answered. This prevents someone a year from now dredging up an old thread with the SAME question or nonrelevant nonsense that adds nothing. I will continue to do this.
And an addition....while it is noted that you should be using proper grammar, composition, syntax, sentence structure, etc...it is NOT mentioned (and perhaps was obvious....but now needs to be stated) that your postings...
WILL BE IN ENGLISH.
Neither I, nor anyone else, should have to have your posts translated.
This is your only notice and warning. Fail to heed this will result in the post being deleted, and your being banned for 7 days for failure to follow instructions.
My final word...THANK you for your time spent here....answering questions on YOUR free time.

Site policy on homo/gay crap, per the site OWNER. No warnings will be given, violators will be summarily extracted via black helicopter. Take your bathhouse queer crap elsewhere. Here it gets you immediately gone.
""But you are warned, any posts promoting gays and a gay lifestyle will be deleted and you will be subjected to being suspended or banned from Leatherneck. I will not tolerate ANYONE trying to explain why being gay and/or allowing gays in the military is ok. This board will never promote, approve or reinforce a gay lifestyle. Tolerance and acceptance are two very different things. You keep it to yourself and away from me and my family (which does include the Marine Corps), and we will get along just fine. "
Shaffer
20120209: Allow me to add this little tidbit...although congress and the POTUS may have in fact said it's ok for gays to serve, ask those questions....elsewhere. We have had numerous 'trolls' in here doing dumb things along those lines just to get a response. Therefore, ANY such questions will be automatically deleted without further commentary. Period.

Additional information:
Curfew during school nights.......and during school hours
http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=28477
Read and heed all wannabes and poolees!
Whether you know it or not, there is a curfew here on Leatherneck for all wannabees and poolees who are still in high school for being in chat and on the forums.
It seems as though we have a member here and there who are logging onto Leatherneck during school hours to ask questions for a school project, or whatever else, that can wait until you get home from school!
This is NOT permitted during school hours!
NO wannabee or poolee should be on Leatherneck during school hours....period! If you are found to be on Leatherneck during school hours, whether it be on the forums or in chat, will find themselves for a period to be determined away from Leatherneck.

While this is the Ask A Marine forum and we are here to answer questions, many of the questions that are being asked lately have been asked and answered many times before. Try using the search bar first.
